Message Decoders

Telemetry devices provide power to each of the attached sensors, acquire, process and transmit sensor data to CIS. As soon as a message is received in CIS, it is decoded by the message decoder and stored in our database.
In the current CIS version, the message decoder is inherited from the Device Type to which your device has been associated.

There are several message decoders to choose from when creating a new Device Type in CIS. A maximum of 32 Use Cases are associated with each message decoder. A Use Case is a combination of sensors connected to 1 telemetry device. Some Use Cases are reserved for special type of messages and do not necessarily contain sensor data. For example:
Status Messages - sent automatically, every time a telemetry device is turned ON
Diagnostic Messages - sent periodically to provide information on your device's health and performance
  1. None - sensor message are not decoded. Only raw message data along with relevant metadata is displayed and returned by our API or pushed to your endpoint when useing Relays/Webhooks.
